Going to the gym at 6 AM Every Day for 2 Months ⏰
Push — Pull — PUMP!!! 💪
Everyone knows that waking up and getting out of your bed on a Monday morning is one of the most challenging things about starting your day.
Let alone waking up when the skies are brighter than the stars and the temperature outside colder than my fridge 🥶
Despite this, I still decided that I would commit 1 hour and 30 min every day of my summer break to enhance my body.
This took every bit of my willpower to sleep at the right time and haul my ass out of bed when the alarm clock starts ringing.
Even though it has been roughly 1 and a half months, I would still say that this has definitely been one of the smartest moves I’ve made 🧠
This has been an eye-opening experience for me and has really helped me develop myself both physically and mentally.
I’ll be continuing this endeavor for the foreseeable future and do not plan on stopping anytime soon!!
The Process
On day 1 of early morning gyming, I had definitely had a struggle on waking up and being motivated to go.
I kept thinking about the sweat, soreness, and stress of lifting and really wasn’t able to embrace all the positives.
Just like how when people are afraid of all sorts of things, I feel like I was scared of coming out of my comfort zone and do something so early in the morning.
The fact that I had slept at the same time and now wake up 2 hours earlier really hit me hard and still does to this day.
However, after a couple of snoozes buttons, I finally got up, put my clothes on, and sped to the gym.
Upon arrival, I immediately began dialing and flushing out the morning grogginess usually associated with waking up early.
I’m not sure if it’s the heavy banging music or simply seeing so many bigger adults working out so early, it really gave me a mental push towards the right direction.
Seeing people bigger than me never really discouraged me but instead helped me set a goal and helped me really push through the mental barrier of working out.
Even though it’s kinda corny, I feel like the quote, “Be the dumbest one in the room” really holds in situations when self-improvement is an objective.
Nevertheless, when coming to the gym I really valued everyone’s one grind and the subtle respect that everyone showed each other despite gender, race, or size.
I was really able to focus on honing my own craft, progressing on my journey, and getting the best out of my time.
In the end, coming back home, taking a shower, and preparing to start my day at 8:30 am sharp helped positively shape the rest of my day.
While the rest of the world was still sleeping in on a Saturday morning, I had already gotten a blood-pumping workout in, and that excited me.
Conclusion ⚡️
Ironically, while at the gym, I loved every aspect of stress, soreness, and fatigue while I dreaded it waking up.
I firmly believe that pumping iron is great, working out really is beneficial for developing discipline and an iron heart.
Overcoming mental roadblocks and seeking out discomfort is something that we need to learn early on in life as it’ll help us develop a growth mindset and be more receptive to dramatic change.
Just like how researchers have proven that repetition is what builds profession, being able to get up in the morning and dedicate a small amount of time towards working out heeds nothing but benefits.
If every single day you’re stuck and unwilling to put yourself out there, then your growth will do everything but go up.
Being caught up in the short term grief will not be beneficial in the long run and instead will develop into a more potent virus later on in life.
It’s important to flush out bad habits and instill great ones while we’re young.
Whether it be emotionally, physically, or mentally, prioritize these activities and stimulate personal growth.
Instead of procrastinating and neglecting, remember that the time is NOW!!!
My short time working out at 6 am has been one step in the right direction and I plan on sharing more of these stories in the future 👍 😁
