Why I Started an Instagram Page Geared Towards Teaching
Growing an audience on the internet is becoming more and more beneficial as the world is beginning to shift towards a completely digital era. Having an audience on any popular social media allows you to be flexible and have the ability to maximize the output of attention grabbed users.
Growing up with Ipads and iPod Touches, Gen Z babies such as myself are unaware of the true potential of social media and what kind of powers it brings with it. In the prehistoric era called the no internet age, communication was severely limited as people existed only in their small bubbles.
To give some perspective of life back then, here are a few tasks that differ from today’s age.
- 1.No Amazon or online shopping — Physical stores were the only way to acquire products 🛍
- Information could only be acquired in books or libraries — No Google 😭
- People were restricted to close proximities of their dwelling, had to meet up to talk or hang out — No online friends or online communication 🤳
- To watch any TV show, you had to watch them live when airing ONE EPISODE AT AT A TIME (no binging) — No Netflix, Disney+, or illegal movie websites 📺
- To get anywhere actual paper maps were needed to get from point A to B — Your favorite navigating app, GMaps is unavailable for use 🗺
Everything we do in our daily lives has changed because of the internet and the device that we hold in our hands. However, the true benefit that this radical shift brought was the upbringing of attention that would not have been able to be achieved before.
Now with a social media platform, millions of daily users can access different photos, videos, and interact with anyone spaning from the US-Asia. A platform that can single-handedly change the course of your career and how you make money.
The Past
I started growing Instagram pages as a way for me to make a tiny bit of extra cash on the side. But, when I got more into the development and communication of other like-minded people growing their pages, I began to immerse myself in the whole Instagram ecosystem.

To sum it all up, I was feeling great for this period of time, seeing my pages growing every day, responding to DMs with different companies, reading the comments of each post, and just learning something new about how to grow my pages every day.
BUT, I started to burnout, 3 posts daily on top of new commitments led to a natural decline in the amount of effort put into discovering and driving traffic for growth. It began to feel like more of a chore than actually doing something that I loved, waking up to the new followers gained overnight didn’t give me the rush to continue as it had done before.
I was demotivated and chasing numbers, as time went on, without realizing it myself, each post began to chip away at the passion I once had.
Turning Point
However, there is always light at the end of the tunnel, and in my case, it was responding to passionate individuals through DMs. These individuals consisted of regular people and other pages looking to grow as well.
I loved responding and pouring my soul into each response, reviewing what they were doing, how to monetize, how to get started, and any other concerns that they had. Instead of waking up to new numbers, I began to wake up looking forward to the next DM. I felt obligated to each person reaching out as I reflected on my journey and how I got started from just cold DMs as well.
I was stuck, I didn’t want to post on my pages anymore but at the same time, I didn’t want to quit 😔.
This made me realize, instead of continuing to grow my pages every day to an audience that I wasn’t passionate towards, I would convert and start my journey teaching others about everything that I had learned about Instagram on Instagram.
I could still enjoy broadcasting to an engaged audience while still doing what I loved!
It’s been a tough journey as I started making preparations and creating a whole new brand from scratch.
New artwork, templates, Discord servers (further audience engagement), upcoming podcast, and whole other secondary page dedicated towards my investing passion.
In the end, applying the skills I had gained from creating content on SM and learning how to grow to produce results has helped me free myself from just chasing the digits.
I strongly believe that in the future, learning Social Media based skills will not only help you in the workplace but also expand operations in external affairs as well.
